Schmike is the way they spell the name in Poland, I think that some of them spread out to Russia and Romania as I see the name spelled Schmike there also.

We know a Smuk family originally from a small village named Rzynkowice, south of Opole, Poland in Upper Silesia. The name was sometimes spelled Smuk, other times Smuck.
